The technology of Transitions Photochromic allows the visor to seamlessly change from clear to dark in sunlight. The dyes embedded into the lens react to UV light, thus changing levels of darkness with the sun. When there is no light causing chemical reaction, it reconverts to its original, clean form and the lens fades.

Designed for every rider's protection, this CWR-1 Transition Visor meets international standards. When the shield is exposed to UV light, trillions of photochromic molecules begin to change to light, dark and every shade in between. In addition, the iconic technology of Transitions lies in their exclusive and reliable formulas. It is impact resistant with anti-reflective coating and Pinlock ready.

Moreover, the SHOEI CWR-1 shield for RF-1200/NXR/Z-7 helmet models is available with a Transitions adaptive shield option with a 23% light transmission level at 72° Fahrenheit (23° Celsius). The greater the intensity of ultraviolet (UV) sunlight, the darker the shields become.

Each SHOEI helmet comes with the clear visor as the standard version. It fulfills all criteria of the ECE R22 / 05 homologation and shows the environment completely color neutral and distortion-free. As with all visors (except CJ-3 for the J•O and EX-Zero models), there are brackets for an additional anti-fog pinlock system. Unlike the CWR-1, the racing version CWR-F is not vertically curved to allow the use of tear-offs.

In addition, visors contain so-called softener, which evaporates over the years and intensified by frequent use and UV light. As a result, the visor loses its flexibility and, in the event of an accident, it can even collapse and cause severe cuts in the face. The visor should be replaced and exchanged after five years at the latest. For example you can find the production date of the SHOEI visors on the left side of the visor with a four-digit number string (month, year).
